A windy cold front will move across the Gulf Coast region on Saturday night, Jan. 1, into the start of the week. Saturday stays warm with highs in the low 80s and breezy ahead of that strong cold front. Sunday will feel winter-like with highs in the upper 50s in the morning but turning colder into the 40s by afternoon. It'll be windy through the day with gusts over 30 mph for many across the region. Monday could start with a moderate to hard freeze north of Lake Pontchartrain in Louisiana. In central Mississippi, temperatures will fall into the upper 20s and low 30s by Monday morning.
