USM prof named prez MPHA

Dr. Tanya T. Funchess, a public health professional, researcher and educator at the University of Southern Mississippi will serve as President-elect of the Mississippi Public Health Association (MPHA). Funchess, an Assistant Professor of Public Health at USM, has been an MPHA member for more than 15 years. Prior to becoming president-elect, she served as chair of the MPHA Health and Racial Equity Committee. Before joining the USM nursing faculty in 2018, Funchess served 17 years at the Mississippi State Department of Health, including as director of Health Equity.
