UM policing reform: $1M donors

OXFORD, Miss. - Actor Morgan Freeman and University of Mississippi criminal justice and legal studies professor Linda Keena have donated $1M to establish the Center for Evidence-Based Policing and Reform at the university, pending the state’s Institutions of Higher Learning approval. Months of planning with the Department of Criminal Justice and Legal Studies’ leadership and academic leadership, the donors have set out to position UM as a pioneer in thes field that would prepare police and law officers with specialized training to promote effective, positive responses.
