Space X is converting two oil rigs into floating launch and landing pads for its space program. One of those rigs is being worked on at ST Engineering's Halter Marine & Offshore in Pascagoula. STE is involved in a six-month project to remove drilling equipment from the semi-submersible rig, Phobus, which was barged to Pascagoula from Texas. Phobus is slated to be used as a launching-and-landing pad for Starship, a SpaceX vehicle that owner Elon Musk plans to send to Mars. ST Egineering has a non-disclosure agreement with SpaceX that prevents STE from disclosing details about the project, accoreding to a report in the Sun Herald.
