After about a year of COVID-19 delays, the second phase of the ST Engineering aircraft, maintenance and repair facility at the northern edge of Pensacola (Fla.) International Airport is about to re-start. David Penzone, a city business consultant on the STE project, told the City Council on June 14 that construction on the 177,000 SF hangar is getting underway and expected to be completed by September 2022. The city also changed to a design-build contract for Hangars 3 and 4, which will include administrative offices for STE. Hangars 3 and 4 is expected to begin in October 2022 and be completed in June 2024. The city is building the $210M complex as part of an economic development project known as Project Titan, which is expected to bring 1,325 jobs to Pensacola. The funding comestlargely through grants from the state. Pensacola and Escambia County also have each put $15M toward the project.
