Heavy rains may be in store for parts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama as a tropical system off the Gulf of Mexico coast begins moving northward. The rains should start to affect northern Gulf Coast on June 18. The system could bring rain totals of up to 5 inches - higher in some areas, according to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, La. In south Mississippi, rain may reach up to 10 inches in the Gulfport-Biloxi area.
