Mississippi Valley State University alumna Angela Ellis joined the Mississippi Army National Guard as a 17-year-old private (E1) in 1998. Twenty-three years later, she’s made history by being promoted to Sergeant Major (E9). With it, she becomes the first female to be promoted to E9 in the history of the 210th Finance Support Group. Ellis is also the first African-American female Command Sergeant Major in the state of Mississippi.
