Staff Sgt. Michael Otts returned home to Tupelo, Miss., on May 18, after being deployed 11 months in Kuwait with the U.S. Army National Guard, to surprise his 10-year old son, Corbin, at Lawndale Elementary School. Principal Talina Knight Corbin and his classmates that this was a special week to honor American heroes, and that a special guest would be dropping by the school. When the guest walked through the door, it was SSgt. Otts. Corbin sat stunned at his table, then waved to his father before embracing him. The students applauded and waved American flags.
