Jimmy Harrell, 65, the off-shore installation manager in charge of drilling on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig, has died at his home in Morton, Miss. A well that the rig was drilling for BP - about 50 miles off-shore from Venice, La., blew out on April 20, 2010. The explosion, which killed 11 crew members, started the largest environmental disaster in U.S. history. But, his role as a sage crew supervisor and with a reputation for speaking directly became a focal point of federal investigations after the catastrophe.
