Eighty airports across 25 states received airport infrastructure grants Sept. 24 from the U.S. Department of Transportation through the FAA. Regionally, only the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) was among the grantees and securing $39M+ in funds to help pay for the expansion of the airport's taxiways. The grant comes as a part of the Federal Aviation Administration’s Airport Improvement Program (AIP). The NOLA airport was previously notified it would get $15.2M in AIP funds for the taxiway project, and this announcement brings the total federal funding for the project to $54.5M.
