Keesler AFB, Miss., officials have not ordered an evacuation of base personnel yet, but are advising everyone to remain inside and restrict all movement during the approaching storm. Keesler is forecasted to experience tropical storm force winds and may receive 15-to-20 inches of rain and a potential 7-to-11 foot storm surge. Keesler has evacuated some of its aircraft to an interior AFB. Naval Construction Battalion Center Gulfport, Miss., is currently assessing weather conditions/forecasts and will make changes to operations due TS Sally. NCBC is to go into Tropical Condition of Readiness 1, which raises the base’s posture to mission essential personnel only this evening. NCBC plans to enter Tropical Condition of Readiness Two at 1 p.m. (Monday) and then move to Tropical Condition of Readiness One by 5 p.m. Pass Road Gate will be the only operational gate beginning at 6 p.m. “This is likely to be a record-amount of rain for this area. That is the area of concern for this storm in my opinion,” said Kayci Slagel, NCBC Emergency Operations Center Manager. Evacuations have been ordered for neighboring Hancock County’s low-lying areas. If further evacuations are ordered for local areas, they will be announced through the NCBC FB page.
