COLUMBUS, Miss. – Servicemembers from the 43rd Flying Training Squadron at Columbus Air Force Base honored an area World War II veteran who recently turned 96. Representatives from the squadron replaced an American flag at the home of Bradford Freeman of Caledonia. https://www.cdispatch.com/news/article.asp?aid=83322 He served in the last campaign of WWII in Europe with the 101st Airborne as a paratrooper. “I think it’s very important. America needs real heroes," said local historian Rufus Ward, "and Mr. Freeman is not only a veteran, but he was in easy company of the band of brothers, and was in every major engagement in Europe in WWII and is a true American hero. We need to honor those people.” The new flag was delivered in style today by two WWII era jeeps.
