NEW ORLEANS - Rear Adm. John Nadeau, commander of the Eighth Coast Guard District, was to present on Sept. 29 three Silver Lifesaving Medals to Charles Alba, Nicholas Asprodites III, and Kim Williams - on behalf of her husband Frank Williams - and Erica Galiouras will be presented a Certificate of Valor. The Silver Lifesaving Medal is awarded to military or citizens of the United States who rescue or endeavor to rescue any person from drowning, shipwreck, or other peril of the waters within U.S. jurisdiction. On Dec. 5, 2017, Alba, Asprodites, Galiouras and Williams entered into New Canal outside of the Blue Crab restaurant in New Orleans, where they assisted in the rescue of two men trapped in a vehicle that drove off the dock into the lake.
