Brittany Eakes, a 4th grade teacher at Northeast Elementary School in Gulfport was the recipient of NAS Meridian's first ''Teacher Salute' award. The award was presented by NASM's commander Capt. Brent Moore. The award will be presented quarterly to recognize those dedicated to teaching, inspiring and growing the hearts and minds of all students – especially military children.
