Former Gulf Coast shipyard executive Craig Perciavalle has been named the new VP and GM of Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding (FBS), an operating unit of Fincantieri Marine Group, the United States division of the global firm Fincantieri, Europe’s largest shipbuilder with 20 shipyards on five different continents. Outgoing VP/GM Todd Thayse will remain onboard until January to help with the transition. Perciavalle comes to Fincantieri after serving for years as president of the Austal USA shipyard in Mobile, Ala. Perciavalle has extensive background in the shipbuilding and repair industry, having worked at several Gulf Coast shipyards throughout his career. He is a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, N.Y. FBS has a 63-acre shipyard in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., specializing in new construction, repair, conversion and sustainment of commercial vessels. Its portfolio includes Articulated Tug Barges, Dredges, Ferries, Platform Support Vessels, and Specialty Vessels including Self-Unloading Carriers. Thayse has been at RFBS for 37+ years, the last 10 as VP/GM. He retires in January, but will remain an advisor with the Fincantieri Marine Group.
