The Leslie Farrell Threadgill Lecture and Artist Series will bring a music review of the Big Bands' era to Rent Auditorium in Whitfield Hall at Mississippi University for Women on Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m. The event will features various music styles, including swing, ballads, cha-chas, waltzes and tangos. The band celebrates America’s Swing Era performing the greatest hits as recorded by Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, and vocal selections made famous by Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, and Rosemary Clooney. Jukebox Saturday Night is managed by Glenn Miller Productions. Tickets are free, but limited. Tickets must be reserved and will be held at Will Call at Whitfield Hall from 6:30-7:30 p.m. the evening of the concert. MUW bands present fall concert under new director: Under the direction of new MUW Director of Bands Ginger Zingara, The W Jazz and Wind Ensembles will present a Fall Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 9 in Poindexter Hall’s Kossen Auditorium. The program will be livestreamed at muw.edu/music. Admission is free, but seating is limited. Reservations are required (RSVP by 5 p.m. Nov. 8) to reserve a seat or call (662) 241-6399.
