GT COVID cases rising, ICU shortages

Golden Triangle regional COVID-19 cases continue to rise, for the most part, alongside the nation, with 339 new cases in the past week; and 215 new cases a week earlier. The Mississippi State Department of Health’s latest available information had Lowndes County with 2,066 cases (up from 1,941 a week ago), and Oktibbeha County had 2,210 cases, an increase from 2,060. Clay County had 793 cases (up 45 cases). Noxubee County had 634 cases, an increase of 19. But, some school districts are seeing a lull. Starkville-Oktibbeha Consolidated School District has four positive student cases and two positive staff cases, according to its website.
