Possible explosive device defused

Brookhaven, Miss., police defused a suspicious and potentially dangerous backpack in a garden area outside the emergency room of King’s Daughters Medical Center in the afternoon of Nov. 13. An unnamed person reported the suspicious bag to hospital security, who found it after 2 p.m., and called police. Police officers found the small grey backpack in the bushes of the Willing Hearts Circle Prayer Garden. The bag had in it several paint can-type containers filled with gasoline possibly designed as an incendiary device. Also, police found at least one piece of evidence they hope may lead to a person of interest. The case is under investigation, and federal authorities will soon likely be involved.
