Firearm leads to officer jail time

A NW Florida-based aerospace engineering duty officer with the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training, onboard NAS Pensacolawas sentenced to two months’ confinement for bringing an unregistered firearm onto NASP, and for disobeying an order from a superior to stay at least 500 feet away from another person, according to court documents. Lt. Cmdr. Troy Wesley Mask was sentenced at a judge-only general court-martial Oct.1. The case will also trigger a firearms possession prohibition under federal law. The other individual's name was redacted from court documents. Mask, a Florida native, enlisted in 2000 and was commissioned in 2004, according to his service record.
