Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) inspectors and engineers conducted a first follow-up pre-production inspection of Murphy Oil’s King’s Quay floating production system (FPS) platform in the Gulf of Mexico. The facility is moored in Green Canyon Block 433 about 175 miles south of New Orleans. A first offshore follow-up inspection is crucial for a new production platform in the Gulf, according to BSEE’s Houma (La.) District production supervisor Micah Charpentier. BSEE conducted an initial dockside pre-production inspection of King’s Quay in Ingleside, Texas, in September 2021. The facility has the capacity to process 80,000 barrels of oil per day and 100M cubic feet of natural gas daily. With the follow-up inspection completed, King’s Quay FPS is on schedule to start production in mid-2022. It is expected to handle production from the Khaleesi, Mormont, and Samurai fields within the Green Canyon area of the Gulf of Mexico. (Source: Work Boat 02/04/22)
