Months after leaders moved to streamline workforce training programs, Mississippi moved up three spots in the 2021 Regional Workforce Development Rankings by Site Selection magazine. Mississippi moved to #5 in 2020 from #8 in 2019 in the south-central region. “Workforce development is an important part of Mississippi’s economy,” said John Rounsaville, executive director of the Mississippi Development Authority. “MDA works with several other state agencies, our community colleges and our universities to ensure that companies in Mississippi have the well-trained workforce they need to have success.” Site Selection ranks states in different regions across the U.S. Regional rankings are “meant to provide some insight into which states are cultivating a workforce development culture …” the article stated.
