The University of Southern Mississippi has named Dr. Shannon Campbell to lead its coastal teaching and research sites in Long Beach, Gulfport, Ocean Springs and at the Stennis Space Center, Miss., toward future growth in support of unique education, business and industry needs in the region. Campbell will begin her post, as Senior Associate VP for Coastal Operations, on March 1. She will serve as the lead administrative officer for coastal operations and be part of USM's senior leadership. Campbell had been director of the Trent Lott National Center for Excellence in Economic Development and Entrepreneurship at USM. Dr. Chad Miller, professor of Economic Development and Program Coordinator for Master of Science in Economic Development, will serve as interim director while USM conducts a search for a new director. The new position of Senior Associate Vice President for Coastal Operations came as USM announced a restructuring of its Coastal Operations.
