Alabama-based shipbuilder Austal USA confirmed Feb. 22 that it had accepted the resignation of President Craig Perciavalle following U.S. and Australian investigations into “historical matters” in the Littoral Combat Ship program. A company spokesperson confirmed the contents of its Feb. 22 text to workers regarding Perciavalle, and that Austal USA Chief Financial Officer Rusty Murdaugh had been named interim president, and also serve as CFO. Austal USA is one of the Mobile’s largest employers with a workforce of about 4,000. The shipyard builds two aluminum vessels-types for the Navy, the Independence-class Littoral Combat Ship and the Expeditionary Fast Transport.
