The Hancock County (Miss.) Port and Harbor Commission (HCPHC) has begun a search for a deputy director to help the economic development organization’s strategic plan and grow opportunities in the county. HCPHC owns and operates Port Bienville Industrial Park, Port Bienville Short Line Railroad and Stennis International Airport. HCPHC is self-supporting, with revenue derived from the industrial park and airport facilities and services. Its primary mission is to promote and develop Hancock County by retaining and adding industry to increase the tax base and create jobs. Current director Bill Cotter announced his retirement earlier this year He will be replaced by current deputy director Blaine LaFontaine on Jan. 1. The incoming deputy director will assist LaFontaine in overseeing the organization and its nearly 30 employees. Other duties of the deputy-candidate includes budgeting, capital planning, project management and developing relationships with public/private officials.
