LM opens missile plant in North Ala.

Lockheed Martin opened a hypersonic weapons manufacturing site about 45 miles west of Huntsville, Ala., on Oct. 4. It will build missiles for the Army and Navy. It’s the third all-digital facility opened by Lockheed in 2021, part of a focus on new, purpose-built facilities to build next-generation weapons faster and less expensive. Lockheed broke ground on the 65K square foot facility two years ago. Inside the Assembly Building 4, workers will build hypersonic weapons for the Navy’s Conventional Prompt Strike and Army’s Long Range Hypersonic Weapon programs.
