WASHINGTON - For nearly a century, 18-year-old males have been required to register for a military draft. Bipartisan Congress support is poised to make a historic change by requiring women, for the first time in U.S. history, to register for the draft. But, they're leaving the details for a later date. There hasn't been a military draft since the Vietnam War, and may never happen again - unless there's a major crisis emerges. The logistics of incorporating women could prove complicated. Would women serve in combat roles? Would they sharing housing with men? Neither Congress nor DoD has thought all the details through.
