NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard rescued two mariners after their vessel started taking on water on Oct. 16 near Gulfport, Miss. CG Sector Mobile, Ala., received a report from the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources around 11 p.m. The CG launched a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boat crew from CG Station Gulfport and an Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew to respond. The HC-144 crew located the vessel north of Cat Island, Miss. The RBM boat crew arrived and rescued the boaters, and transferred them to shore at Station Gulfport.
