Miss., Ala. at risk for Delta variant

JACKSON, Miss - Mississippi is one of five states singled out by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as a place where the Delta variant of COVID-19 could have the worst impact. The other states are Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Wyoming. Mississippi ‘s state Epidemiologist Dr. Paul Byers said the reason Mississippi is vulnerable to the Delta variant is low vaccination rates. The state is seeing outbreaks of Delta occurring in elementary, middle and high school-age kids according to Dr. ByersAs of Tuesday, the department reported 78 cases of the Delta variant across the state.
