Del Toro is SECNAV nominee

WASHINGTON - The Biden administration announced that it is nominating Carlos Del Toro for the next Secretary of the Navy. If confirmed, Del Toro, a retired Navy commander and a technology solutions business leader, would be the second-ever Hispanic SECNAV. He was born in Havana, Cuba. Del Toro graduated from the Naval Academy in 1983 and then served 22 years in the Navy. His assignments included serving as the first commanding officer of the guided-missile destroyer USS Bulkeley, overseeing ship construction in Mississippi and fleet introduction activities as well as the integration of women into the crew. The vessel was one of the first mixed-gender warships. After retiring from the Navy, Del Toro founded SBG Technology Solutions, where he served as president/CEO. The company has participated in defense programs related to shipbuilding, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and space systems.
