MOBILE, Ala. - The Airbus manufacturing here delivered the first U.S.-made A220 passenger jet on Oct. 22 to Delta Air Lines. It is the first A220-300 type aircraft. Delta has 31 A220-100 aircraft. Airbus builds both in Mobile. The delivery is a “historic moment” for Airbus in North America,” said C. Jeffrey Knittel, Chairman/CEO of Airbus Americas. Ground was broken for the A220 assembly line in Mobile in January 2019. Production of the A220 started in August 2019.
