TUPELO, Miss. - The Tupelo Regional Airport is in discussions with Breeze Airways to add additional flight designations and has plans to upgrade its terminal, according to Airport Executive Director Joe Wheeler.
Currently, the airport works with Contour Airlines to fly passengers to and from Nashville. TRA saw about 1,500 passengers in 2023.
Wheeler also said one of TRA's biggest goals is to make improvements to the terminal, such as new seating, adding local artists' artworks and massage chairs to help ease anyone of pre-fight stress.
Behind the scenes, Wheeler said safety is a top priority. The airport had its first bomb threat in nearly 20 years in December. Other state airports that received similar threats included Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport, Gulfport-Biloxi and Hattiesburg-Laurel, (WTVA 01/10/24)
