Hinton named CFO at Hancock port

KILN, Miss. - Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission (HCPHC) has named Amber Hinton to the position of Chief Financial Officer. 

She will be responsible for the management and supervision of all financial administration, including budgeting and reporting, supervision of accounting staff, protection of assets including cash and fixed assets, and grant and loan compliance.  

Hinton joins HCPHC with 17 years of experience in governmental accounting and finance from the cities of Picayune and Gulfport. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. The LMR Comp is a five-year, $25M mega-study that will deliver recommendations for effective and practical management of the Mississippi River from Cape Girardeau, MO., to the Gulf of Mexico.

Its purpose is to identify recommendations for the comprehensive management of the region across multiple purposes, including hurricane and storm damage reduction, flood risk management, structure and nonstructural flood control, floodplain management strategies, navigation, ecosystem and environmental restoration, water supply, hydropower production, recreation, and other purposes as determined by the Secretary of the Army.


The study area encompasses seven states: Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee. 

The virtual public orientation will provide an overview of the study, update the general public, interested parties, and stakeholders, and outline the path forward as the study progresses.
