Jackson bomb threat cleared

UPDATEMultiple government buildings are back open Thursday after bomb threats forced evacuations at the Mississippi State Capitol, Supreme Court, and Hinds County Circuit Court IN Jackson. The news comes a day after the Mississippi State Capitol received a bomb threat. Other buildings evacuated included the Hinds County Chancery Court, Hinds County Tax Assessor, and Tax Collector’s Office. However, DPS posted a message online showing the threats weren’t limited to Jackson. Several bomb threats were also received Thursday at courthouses statewide as well as Wednesday at Capitol buildings across nine states. Authorities have not said if the incidents are related. (WLBT 01/04/24)


JACKSON, Miss. - The Mississippi Supreme Court received a bomb threat Thursday morning, the day after the State Capitol received similar threat, that turned out to be a hoax. 

Bailey Martin, with the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, said precautionary measures were taken at the Mississippi State Capitol and Supreme Court buildings. The buildings were evacuated, and employees and staff were seen standing outside at about 9 a.m. (WAPT 01/04/24) Developing story.
