JACKSON, Miss. - Daylight Saving Time is ending early Sunday, Nov. 5.
It'll be time to "fall back" by turning the clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. Essentially, gaining an opportunity for an extra hour of sleep and return to standard time.
As we head into the colder months, it will leave us with less daylight.
Everyone state - except Hawaii and most of Arizona - participates.
In 2021, Mississippi Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith pushed the idea of having permanent daylight-saving time. The Sunshine Protection Act was introduced, but the House has never voted on it. If it does pass, all agreeing states would participate in Daylight Saving Time year- round.
Experts say this is the time when you should check/change the batteries in your smoke detectors, throw away expired medications and prepare a winter emergency kit for your home and car. (WAPT 11/01/23)
