August notes from NAS Meridian

Goings-on at CAFB

* During the week of Aug. 7-11, Naval Air Station Meridian, Miss., welcomed assessors from Commander, Naval Installation Command, U.S. Fleet Forces and Navy Region Southeast to complete the Final Evaluation Problem Assessment. NAS Meridian did an outstanding job on the assessment with an overall score of 94 percent – the highest in the Region to date. (Skyline 08/17/23)

Training Air Wing One (TW-1) held a change of command ceremony Aug. 11 onboard Naval Air Station Meridian. Capt. Juston Kuch assumed command from Capt. Robert Lanane II; after which Lanane retired with 25 years of naval service. Capt. Lanane’s management of Training Squadrons Seven and Nine delivered over 53,700 flight training sorties with zero mishap flight hours in the T-45C Goshawk. Capt. Kuch was commissioned through the Officer Candidate School at NAS Pensacola in October 2000 and earned his “Wings of Gold” at NAS Meridian in January 2003. (Skyline 08/17/23)
