NCBC talks projects with city

Naval Construction Battalion Center Gulfport's public works officer Lt. Cmdr. Majellen Changcoco and Ron Jenkins, NCBC's community planning liaison officer spoke with members of Gulfport's Public Works Department about future projects around NCBC, including the paving of 28th Street from Canal Road to 34th Avenue in a few months. Also, Jenkins briefed the group on future funding opportunities using the Defense Community Infrastructure Program. DCIP is a sponsored by the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation. It is designed to address improvements in community infrastructure that support military installations in order to enhance military value, installation resilience, and military family quality of life. NCBC boss discusses base mission with Harrison board: On May 10, Capt. Jeff Powell, commanding officer of the NCBC Gulfport, spoke to the Harrison County (Miss.) Development Commission's Board of Commissioners to discuss the ongoing mission of the base, new developments with on-base construction, and services. The community outreach function is a series of community events designed throughout 2022 to highlight the 80th anniversary of the base and Seabees and strengthen bonds with the community. The Harrison County Development Commission was created in 1958 to promote and develop harbors, seaports, industrial sites, and other related facilities. (Source: NCBC 05/10/22)
