Louisiana business accolades

* LSU College of the Coast & Environment Professor Nancy Rabalais was inducted as a member of the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C. She was among 120 elected members - the only one from Louisiana. She was recognized for her distinguished achievements in original research in 2021. She is also among the 59 women who have been elected, the most women elected in a single year. Rabalais is an LSU Department of Oceanography & Coastal Sciences professor and the Shell Endowed Chair in oceanography and wetland studies. 

* Nicole Buranzon Cutforth has been promoted to Louisiana regional director for Aptim’s Coastal, Ports & Marine divisionCutforth also serves as the market sector director for flood control for the division. She has been with the company for 16 years and is the senior project manager for the Houma Navigation Canal Lock Complex and the Bayou Chene Flood Protection Structure. Aptim is a global engineering and environmental consulting firm.

* Paul Danos, owner and CEO of Danos, has been elected as chair of the National Ocean Industries Association for 2022-23Danos is a third-generation owner, CEO and president of the Gray, La.-based oilfield service provider. He joined the company in 2005 as project manager of the offshore construction and fabrication division and later served as VP of U.S. operations and executive VP. Danos previously worked at Stonehenge Capital, Arthur Andersen and Plains All American Pipeline. 

* Jon Renthrope has been named interim executive director for the New Orleans Regional Black Chamber of CommerceRenthrope is CEO of Cajun Fire Brewing Company and an internationally recognized brew master. He had been serving as a member of the NORBCC Board of Directors. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Florida and a master's in community development finance from the University of New Orleans. (Source: NOLA.com 05/22/20)
