GC PO3 on field at Super Bowl

Gulf Coast (GC) Petty Officer 3rd Class Samantha Showalter, a Fort Walton Beach (Fla.) native, will be on the field at Hard Rock Stadium for Super Bowl LIV, as the NFL thanks the Navy and Marine Corps for the pre-game flyover. She won’t be doing any open-field running, but Aviation Electronics Technician 3rd Class Showalter will be on the field. At 25, Showalter will be responsible for the proper functioning of communications, navigation and other equipment aboard the EA-18G “Growler” electronic warfare jet that will be part of the Navy and Marine Corps flyover before kickoff. It will be an historical first for the Super Bowl. It will mark the first time a combined Navy and Marine Corps flyover has been held at the SB.
