Redistricting info meetings sked

JACKSON, Miss. - Mississippi lawmakers are traveling across state to gather ideas about how congressional and legislative districts should look in the next 10 years based on soon-to-be released Census data coming decade. A series of public hearings began Aug. 5 in Meridian. Additional stops include an Aug. 6 stop in Tupelo; Aug. 9 in Senatobia; Aug. 11 in Itta Bena; Aug. 12 in Starkville; Aug. 16 in Natchez; Aug. 18 in Gulfport; Aug. 19 in Hattiesburg; and Aug. 23 in  Jackson. Mississippi will keep four seats in the U.S. House, despite the Census findings it was one of three states to lose population over the last 10 years. In an effort to equalize the population among the districts, boundaries must be adjusted. (Source: WJTV 08/06/21) Mississippi lawmakers gather info on redistricting puzzle (wjtv.com)
