Lasers, long-range precision-strike weapons, and over-the-horizon missile (OTH) attacks are a few expanded warfare missions planned for the fleet of DDG 51 Flight III destroyers. The tech backbone of these new ships, being integrated onto USS Jack Lucas (DDG 125), is a new family of AN/SPY-6 high-power radar systems that brings improvements to threat tracking, identification and counterattack.
