Steel Dynamics Inc., with plans to build a greenfield state-of-the-art recycled aluminum flat rolled mill in Columbus, Miss., is hoping to close a deal to purchase 90 acres on the Lowndes County Port Authority's east bank by Oct. 1.
LCPA Attorney John Crowell said the port is waiting to see a finalized version of a contract from SDI before finalizing a sale. A purchase price has not been disclosed.
Golden Triangle Development LINK CEO Joe Max Higgins told The Dispatch the company is now working on a finalized contract with LCPA to build its own on-loading and off-loading operations at the port. (The Dispatch 09/01/23)
