With outdoor temperatures reaching into the low 100s, you might have thought that there were new record high temperatures being set across the Mississippi.
Yet, many of the high temperatures this week were cool compared to the record high 115-degree day recorded in Holly Springs, Miss., in 1930.
According to data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, that was the maximum recorded temperature in Mississippi on July 29, 1930.
Record high temperatures in Alabama was 112 degrees on Sept. 6, 1925' in Centervi9lle; and 114 degrees in Plain Dealing, La., on Aug. 10, 1936.
