Gov. Tate Reeves has received House Bill 770, equal pay for women, and if he signs it, Mississippi will no longer be the only state in the U.S. without an equal pay law on the books. "This is a very historic day for the House, and for the state of Mississippi," said House Judiciary A Chairwoman Angela Cockerham (I-Magnolia), lead author of the bill. But some advocates of equal pay for women say the measure state lawmakers passed is worse than not having a law at all, and are urging the governor to veto the legislation.
