NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard and Alabama partner agencies are searching for a missing swimmer March 31 in Gulf Shores, Ala. The missing swimmer was described as a 20-year-old Caucasian male wearing an orange swimsuit. CG Sector Mobile, Ala., received a call from a good Samaritan Wednesday night of a swimmer entering the water and not resurfacing. The CG launched of two rescue crews - from Dauphin Island and New Orleans - to assist Gulf Shores Police /Fire and Rescue and Alabama Marine Resources Division - with the search. UPDATE: The Coast Guard suspended its search at 7:23 p.m. Thursday for a missing swimmer near Gulf Shores, Alabama. Rescue crews searched more than 118 square miles for a combined search time of 8.8 hours. (Coast Guard 03/31/22)
