There was a Town Hall meeting last week at NAS/JRB New Orleans. Among issues discussed:
*The current back gate will be closed for five days in mid-March. The new back gate will be open for use this summer. Hours will mirror the current back gate. In about a year, the new back gate will become the main gate and will be open 24/7. The current main gate will become the secondary gate with limited hours.
*Hurricane Ida repairs are nearly complete. Over 600 homes have been completed. All roof repairs are complete. All repairs to the new housing area are complete. Repairs to homes in the older housing area will be complete by April 1.
* The annual security exercise, Citadel Shield/Solid Curtain, is happening through Feb. 17. Prepare for traffic delays.
*The annual hurricane exercise will be around May 1.
*Flight Ops: Several aircraft detachments will be coming to base throughout the spring. Listen for the sound of freedom!
*Job Openings: Several commands and departments on base are hiring. Follow base social media accounts and look at usajobs.gov for more details. (NAS/JRB 02/09/23)
