CG airlifts trio of grounded boat

NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard rescued three boaters that ran aground in the evening of Jan. 16 near Hopedale, La. The CG received notification of an 18-foot flat bottom boat had run aground due to sudden changes in water depth due to a winter weather system. The CG launched a CG Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin that hoisted the trio aboard and transported them to the Hopedale Marina. The boaters were last reported in stable condition. "Mariners are advised to use caution and stay alert as winter weather systems can cause drastic changes in water levels," said CG Cmdr. Roberto Trevino. Check Weather.gov to stay up to date with weather forecasts and updates. (Source: Coast Guard 01/17/22)
