Lee/Tupelo gov'ts to remain closed

TUPELO, Miss. - Lee County and Tupelo city government buildings will remain closed Thursday (Feb. 18) due the threat of more severe winter weather. Bill Benson, Lee County administrator, told the Daily Journal that all county offices will remain closed, and most services will be suspended. He predicted county’s buildings will continue to be close Friday, but a decision has not been made. Lee County Solid Waste, which provides trash collection services, will suspend garbage collection through Feb. 21, and will try to restart routes on Feb. 22. Tupelo city employees will work remotely, and its emergency responders and public works department will continue to respond to the winter weather threat.
