WASHINGTON - An Air Force UH-1N Huey helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing at a Manassas, Va., airport Aug. 10 after a shot was fired at it, injuring a member of the crew and damaging the aircraft, local and military officials told McClatchy News. The helicopter is assigned to the 1st Helicopter Squadron at Joint Base Andrews, Md. It was flying at about 1,000 feet and about 10 miles northwest of the Manassas airport when the incident occurred, the Air Force said. The injured crew member, who was not identified, was treated and released at a local hospital. The FBI is looking into the incident and “dispatched Special Agents and its Evidence Response Team to the Manassas Airport after receiving reports that a helicopter was shot at from the ground nearby,” the FBI’s Washington Field Office said in a statement.
