New mil.hardship pay over virus

A new Defense Department guidance lays out a series of special hardship pay and allowances for military members dealing with coronavirus response, quarantined after contracting the virus or separated from families due to permanent change-of-station (PCS) changes. The guidance, issued March 26, includes a cash allowance for troops ordered to quarantine after exposure. The new pay is known as Hardship Duty Pay-Restriction of Movement (HDP-ROM). It assists mil.personnel ordered to self-isolate, but unable to do so at home or in government quarters, in order to cover the cost of lodging. Service members can receive $100/day for up to 15 days each month if they meet the requirements, the guidance states.
