OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. - Ocean Springs' city aldermen will be asked to approve an ordinance Dec. 6 to expand its boundaries, which would start an annexation process for two areas of unincorporated Jackson County. One of the parcels in the proposed annexation plan would bring Ocean Springs High School inside the city limits. The 40 acres are outside the city limits, but on school district property. The plan will also attempt to annex land on Highway 57 north of Interstate 10. Ocean Springs has a history of starting and then abandoning annexation plans - in 2009, 2014 and 2017. Click here to take a closer look at the annexation plan. About 1,300 people would become Ocean Springs residents under the annexation plan and a judge approves it. (WLOX 12/02/22)
